Costs and value

How much does alloy wheel powder coating cost?

The cost to powder coat wheels depends on how many you are doing, their size, the condition they are in and the finish you choose, so a fair price needs a look at the wheels. Send us a photo and we reply within 24 hours with a free quote and what the work involves.

What sets the price

Two sets of wheels that look alike in a photo can need very different amounts of work. These are the main factors.

What is included

The work is done in-house at our Crown Road workshop: stripping to bare metal, any repair, the powder coat and the 180°C oven cure. There is no extra charge for tyre removal, balancing or storage at the workshop. Most sets take 36 to 48 hours, and free loan wheels are available subject to stock, so call to check for your make.

What to compare between quotes

A low figure can leave things out, so check what each quote covers. Our refurbishment cost guide sets out the same factors across the wider range of wheel work, and the powder coating vs painting comparison helps if you are weighing the two finishes.
  • Is the wheel stripped to bare metal, or coated over the old finish?
  • Is repair of kerb damage or corrosion included?
  • Are tyre removal and balancing included?
  • Is the price for one wheel or the set?
  • How long will the car be without its wheels, and is there a loan set?

When repair costs more than the coating

Sometimes the damage matters more to the price than the finish. A cracked or badly bent wheel needs welding or straightening before it can be coated, and some are better replaced. Our guide to repairing or replacing alloy wheels explains how to weigh it up.

Why there is no price list

Wheel work varies too much for a single figure to be fair. A lightly scuffed set and a set with deep kerb damage and corrosion are different jobs, even in the same size. A photo shows us the difference, and the quote then covers what your wheels need. All our work carries a satisfaction guarantee.

It depends on the number of wheels, their size, their condition and the finish. A photo lets us give you a free price, usually within 24 hours.
