A re-cut face is sealed under fresh lacquer, and gentle care keeps that seal intact. Wash with a wheel cleaner made for alloys, use a soft brush or mitt and skip anything abrasive on the bright surface. Brake dust and road salt do the damage over time, so rinsing them off after a dirty drive helps a lot. Glance over the faces each time you wash the car.
