Panel respray or full respray?

A single damaged panel can often be resprayed on its own. A deep scratch along a door, a scraped wing or a bonnet covered in stone chips is repaired and repainted on that panel alone, then blended so it sits with the paint around it. A full respray makes sense when the paint has faded or failed across the car, or when you want a different colour. We'll look at your photos and tell you which job your car needs.

Single panels

Doors, wings, bonnets, roofs and boot lids, colour-matched from your car's paint code.

Bumpers

Scuffed or split bumpers are repaired or replaced depending on the damage, then painted. See bumper repair.

Full resprays

Smaller areas

Where the damage is contained, SMART repair may fix it without painting the whole panel.

How a respray works

Assess

We check your photos, then the car itself, to agree which panels need painting.

Prepare

Old paint is flatted back, dents and scratches are filled, and surrounding parts are masked off.

Match

Your colour is mixed from the car's paint code and checked against the paint next to it.

Paint

Primer, colour and lacquer go on in our spray booth, with infrared curing.

Photos that get you an accurate quote

Photos that get you an accurate quote

  • One photo of the whole side of the car, so we can see how many panels are affected
  • A close-up of each damaged area, taken in daylight
  • Your paint code if you know it, or a photo of the paint code label
  • A note of the colour you want if you're changing it

Car respray questions

It depends on how many panels need painting, how much repair each one needs before it's painted, and the colour. One panel costs far less than a whole car. Send photos for an exact price, or see our cost guide.

How much does a car respray cost?

It depends on how many panels need painting, how much repair each one needs before it's painted, and the colour. One panel costs far less than a whole car. Send photos for an exact price, or see our cost guide.

Do you respray a whole car?

Yes. We carry out full resprays in your original colour or a new one, as well as single panels. A full respray takes longer than panel work, and we'll give you the timing with your quote.

Will the new paint match the rest of my car?

Yes. We mix your colour from the car's paint code and blend it into the panels next to it, so the repaired area doesn't stand out.

How long does a panel respray take?

Minor bodywork is usually done within 24 hours. Several panels or a full respray take longer, and your quote will say how long.

Is the paint guaranteed?

Yes. Painted bodywork is guaranteed for 12 months, subject to aftercare, and all our work carries a satisfaction guarantee. See all FAQs
