Alloy wheel repair before winter: why you shouldn't wait
Yes, it is worth repairing damaged alloys before winter. Once the lacquer breaks, salt and water reach the aluminium underneath, and a small mark can turn into corrosion over a few wet months.
What winter does to a damaged wheel
An undamaged finish keeps water and salt away from the metal. A kerb scrape, a stone chip or a split in the lacquer lets them in, and wheels spend most of the winter wet.

Quick answers
Is winter a bad time to repair alloys?
No. The work is done indoors at our workshop, so the weather does not affect it. Earlier is better because the damage has had less time to spread.
Can corrosion be stopped?
Often, yes, if it has not eaten into the structure of the wheel. The corroded finish is stripped back to bare metal and refinished. We tell you from your photo whether the wheel is still sound.
How long will I be without my wheels?
A standard refurbishment takes 36 to 48 hours, and diamond cut repairs take 2 working days. Free loan wheels are available subject to stock, so call to check for your make.
Do I need to replace the wheel if the paint is bubbling?
Not usually. Bubbling paint means water has got under the finish, which a refurbishment can deal with. Replacement is only needed if the metal itself is cracked or too far gone.
