Alloy wheel powder coating in Hendon

When a Hendon driver books powder coating, the wheels are stripped, repaired and coated in our own workshop at Crown Road, then cured in the on-site oven at 180°C. That covers a refresh in the original colour as well as a complete change of colour. Send a photo and we'll reply within 24 hours with a price and what the work involves.

Why we strip to bare metal first

Powder only holds as well as the surface beneath it, so every wheel starts by losing its old finish completely.

We take the existing paint

We take the existing paint and lacquer off until only bare alloy is left, so nothing old remains for the new coat to sit on.

Kerb scuffs, pitting and rim

Kerb scuffs, pitting and rim damage are repaired while the metal is exposed and easy to see.

The powder goes on in

The wheel is cured in

The wheel is cured in our oven at 180°C, which fuses the coating to the metal. See alloy wheel powder coating for more.

Why it's done this way

Why it's done this way

Coating over an old finish means the new layer is only stuck to the paint underneath. When that paint lets go, often around a chip or a patch of corrosion, the powder flakes away with it. Starting from clean metal gives the coating a surface of its own to bond to, so it lasts.

Ready when you are

Powder coating takes 36 to 48 hours, and free loan wheels for many makes can keep the car in use, subject to stock.

Why it all happens in one workshop

An on-site oven at 180°C Your wheels stay at Crown Road from the first strip to the final cure, with no trips between separate firms.

Stripped before coating

The same team that strips the wheel applies the powder, so the clean metal goes straight into coating.
