Can any alloy wheel be diamond cut?
No. A wheel needs the right design and enough metal on its face to be cut on a lathe, so suitability is decided wheel by wheel. Send us a photo and we will tell you whether yours can be done.
What makes a wheel suitable
Diamond cutting removes a thin layer from the face of the wheel, so the face has to be shaped for it and have metal to spare. The lathe also has to be able to reach the area being cut. We are happy to check this from photos. Our lathe is a CNC machine at the Crown Road workshop, and a wheel is never sent elsewhere for the cut.
Wheels that usually cannot be cut
These are general guides. If the damage is deep, our guide to repairing or replacing alloy wheels helps you weigh it up.
Can a painted wheel be made diamond cut
It depends on the wheel, and we would not promise it without seeing the design. A painted wheel can always be refinished in a solid colour, with gloss, satin, matte and metallic finishes available. See colour change for that route.

Frequently asked questions
Can all alloy wheels be diamond cut?
No. The design, the amount of metal on the face and the condition of the wheel all matter, so we check each one from a photo.
Can painted alloy wheels be diamond cut?
Sometimes, depending on the design of the wheel. We would need to see it before saying yes. A solid colour finish is always an option.
Is there a limit to how many times a wheel can be diamond cut?
Yes, because each cut removes a thin layer of metal. Our guide to how many times a wheel can be refurbished covers the limit.
Can a cracked diamond cut wheel be re-cut?
Only once the crack has been dealt with, and some cracks mean replacement. We assess the wheel at the workshop before any work starts.
Do I need to know my wheel size?
It helps, but a clear photo is enough to start. The size is printed on the tyre sidewall if you want to include it.
